Great Digital ExhibitionDigital Shoreditch 2013 > Main Programme > Great Digital Exhibition
Community sourced and collectively designed, the exhibit is an experience unique to Digital Shoreditch.
The Great Digital Exhibition is an immersive and engaging journey of interactive discovery, brought to life for the very first time at Digital Shoreditch 2013. A free event, the exhibit will be open to the public Monday May 20 – Friday May 31.
An open casting call for artists, technicians, programmers, visionaries and creatives from East London and beyond, has resulted in a spectacular collection of work. What they have created is an interactive experience for your eyes, ears, and even your nose: the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall will be transformed into a digital labyrinth for you to explore.
Over twenty unique digital creations will take you on a multisensory exploration through light displays, soundscapes and darkened corridors. Each of the exhibits will contain interactive aspects, from digital elements like twitter hashtags, to reactions to the movement of your body or the sounds you make as you move through a room.
ArRay Made of seemingly dead materials such as steel, aluminium and acrylic. ArRay is brought to life by the organic movement of high speed footage and light effects.
Bacchus This is a Lumino-kinetic work that uses a combination of optical interference, refraction and reflection of surfaces to transform a space into a changing light-environment. There are 24 wineglasses arranged randomly in space around a mechanism that carefully shines a digitally manipulated laser pattern through the glass structure.
Bipolar A virtual mirror in which your reflection is distorted by the sounds and movements you make in the room.
We Are the City A gesture-controlled animation that shows the passage of 20M bicycle journeys across London.
Electric Jungle An interactive mixed-media installation encompassing video, light and kinetic objects.
Time Shifting Maze Allows the visitor to enter a world of real-life optical effects mixed with virtual, time-shifted content.
Lit a multi-sensory interactive experience will employ the use of visual light while providing audio feedback.
Firefly A game of dark intentions a tagging game that explores temporal memory, and exploits the balance of collaboration and competition.
Ghosts A multimedia installation that meditates on the ephemerality of art relative to its physical life, and, in turn, on the human desire to create.
Visions of Our Communal Dreams A virtual/physical art installation exploring issues of hybridity, embodiment and collective creativity in the Avatar Age.
Interactive Portrait What looks like a portrait of an historic Shoreditch resident is actually an interactive picture that reacts to people walking by.
Screens in the Wild Using urban prototyping to explore how connected urban screens can benefit urban life. Screens in different locations connected by video feed and interactive experience.
Dance A complex project about movement and sound, a soundtrack created for a dance performance using sounds made by people as instruments.
Digital Archaeology 10 classic websites from the 90′s on the machines and browsers that created them.
In Limbo a film experiment that places the viewer in the centre of multiple intertwining narratives.

L’eau de Digital Shoreditch Using the data from the twitter conversations during the festival, hashtags will correspond to fragrant ingredients to create the scent of Digital Shoreditch.
The Big Phat Shoreditch Race A retro gaming experience with a Shoreditch twist.
Small Global A multi-screened immersive environment that uses 3D animations of high-resolution still photos and simple vector maps of the planet to explore the issues of our increasing global consumption.
